Call for Volunteers: Programme, Communication and ICT Associates (Remotely)
The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) is a youth-led non-governmental organisation committed to raising global and multi-stakeholder support for greener and climate-resilient Africa. ISNAD-Africa operates an interdisciplinary network of experienced professionals, researchers and students across the globe who are promoting sustainable energy, environmental sustainability and climate action in Africa.
ISNAD-Africa is currently implementing the Mentoring for Research Programme (MRP) for students in African universities. The programme helps students in African universities who are conducting research on sustainable energy, environment and climate change topics in various disciplines, access technical support (co-supervision) from researchers and professionals with fitting competencies across the globe through a structured and technical mentoring programme. The programme currently has, as Mentors, experienced researchers and professionals from world-class organisations and institutions such as Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Chatham House, Harvard University, Imperial College, British Colombia University, University College London, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) among international organisations and institutions.
Over the past two years, the programme supports over 60 graduate students (Masters and PhD) who are conducting research on sustainable energy, environment and climate change related topics in 38 universities from 17 African countries who are currently being supported by their mentors from international organisations in over 30 countries across the globe. ISNAD-Africa is also engaged in other environmental education outreach programmes.
To further strengthen its programmes and outreach, ISNAD-Africa invites applications from graduate students and young professionals from across the globe to serve remotely as in varoius volunteering positions. The associates will work for an initial duration of 12 months with possibility of extension based on associates’ performance. Outstanding associates may also be considered for adoption as long term retainment in the organisation.

PROGRAMME ASSOCIATES
Applicants for the role of a Programme Associate are required to:
- Be a registered student in a full-time graduate programme (MSc/PhD). Proof of studentship may be required.
- Be proficient in English language is compulsory. Knowledge of French language will be considered an asset but not compulsory
- Possess a personal computer with an internet connection, as well as an office software suite compatible with Word and Excel formats.
- Have excellent time management skills
- Be an excellent team player who is proactive and able to work with less supervision
- Knowledge of sustainable energy, environment and climate change is not required
Specific requirements for the various positions are as follows:
Programme Assistant:
- adept in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
- excellent e-mail writing skills
- innovative and ability to take initiative
MRP Buddy:
- good communication skills
- ‘naturally’ active on social media
- ability to motivate and inspire others.
- approachable, tolerant, flexible and open-minded
- experience as a peer-group mentor, or student leader will be an advantage
Translator:
- Fluent in English and French.
- excellent writing skills
- Experienced in language transcription
- experience as a translator, will be an advantage

COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATES – SOCIAL MEDIA
To strengthen our communication and outreach, ISNAD-Africa is inviting applications from volunteers with strong interest in social media and digital marketing.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Posting regularly contents on our social media platforms relating to our thematic areas: sustainable energy (renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy access), environmental sustainability, and climate resilience
- Promoting ISNAD-Africa’s mission and activities online through regular posts and media campaigns
- Monitoring and reporting on data analytics from our social media pages

COMMUNICATIONS LEAD

Responsibilities for this role include:
- Overseeing ISNAD-Africa’s communications activities (newsletters, article publications, social media administration and campaigns)
- Defining communication plans and strategies with an overall view of ISNAD-Africa’s online Communication platforms
- Planning and coordinating tasks to deliver communications plan
- Following up with team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and in good quality

ICT ASSOCIATES
To further strengthen its programmes and online outreach; ISNAD-Africa is inviting applications from professionals and students from across the globe to serve remotely as ICT Associates. The Associate will support ISNAD-Africa remotely through updating web content, uploading articles and profiles, creating and managing blog accounts, creating frequent backups, network and server administration.
Specific requirements for the various positions are:
- adept in WordPress CMS and layout builders (e.g. Beaver, Elementor, Divi, Avia)
- basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- basic knowledge of non-destructive image editing (cropping, resizing, sharpening, background removal and replacement)
- experience in managing dedicated and VPS hosting platforms
- Knowledge of sustainable energy, environment and climate change is not required
- proficient in English Language

HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATOR
The human resources (HR) coordinator will work remotely and report to the Executive Director and other managers and will be responsible for:
- providing a cross-cutting set of HR services by developing and leading a portfolio of HR initiatives in all the programmes and activities of the organisation
- S/he will work closely with the other programme associates to ensure that there is cohesion amongst the team in all areas and that they are mapped to the needs of the organisation
- As the HR coordinator, s/he will invest her/his holistic knowledge of human resource management (HRM) to guide leadership, management, and staff and provide them with sound, tailored, and coherent HR solutions.
- The role includes understanding the organisation’s partnership, acting as change agent, focusing on staff championing, relationship management and the management of the business unit
- Schedule and organise team meetings
Successful applicants for the role of a Human Resource Coordinator are required to:
Education and relevant experience:
- Compulsory requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, administration, psychology or other relevant fields. A master’s degree is an added advantage but not compulsory
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in human resource management covering all the relevant areas — performance management and development, learning and development, organisational development, change management, staff engagement and retention initiatives;
- Other essential requirements
