Many thanks to our speakers who shared their insights and experiences on global challenges in sustainability, environmental issues and renewable energy. The students learned a lot from the real-life example, lessons and opportunities to play a role in these fields as they venture into further education.
We also appreciate our colleagues at Imagine Scholar and Faith Academy who helped coordinate the programme. It was fantastic to have everyone involved, receiving the students’ questions and positive feedback.
We are delighted to have hosted a Career Enlightenment Programme in conjunction with Imagine Scholar, featuring speakers from Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP) and Practical Action East Africa, attended by students of Imagine Scholar’s “Green Team” in South Africa and Faith Academy Canaanland, Nigeria. The webinar was an engaging and info-packed session with participants joining from across the globe to contribute to the discussion on Careers in Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability.

Raise a new generation of sustainable energy experts in Africa
The webinar started with Adedoyin, who introduced the topic and spoke about the challenges faced by Africa, specifically the sub-Saharan part. He stated that Africa is rich in resources like crude oil, coffee, cotton, iron ore, gold, uranium, and etc. However, limitations to research and education cause slow progress which leads to a low human/development index. That is where the ISNAD-Africa comes in. They raise a new generation of sustainable energy, environment and climate experts in Africa to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and stakeholder partnerships to close the gap between research and practice. This then increases environmental litera

Information is important
Sonma came on and stated that students/individuals can get in the Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability space through a lot of careers. This is because information is important and climate change sustainability is best addressed by informed Environmental Scientists, Geoscientists, Biologists, Ecologists, Food scientists, Agriculturists, Architects, Chemical and Process Engineers, Journalists Landscapers, Public health workers, Academics, and Researchers.
